Tomatoes are the heavy hitter of summer. We choose our slicing tomatoes for their thin skins and that perfect balance of acid and sugar that you simply cannot find in a big box grocery store.
Sold at farm stands by the pound. Pick a tomato that feels heavy for its size – that’s the juice! Don’t worry about “catfacing” (little scars or bumps on the bottom); on a farm-grown tomato, that’s often a sign of an heirloom variety with incredible flavor. Typically in season from mid-June through October.
